Overview:
District 22 - Jurong, Boon Lay, Tuas
Once an unpopular district and deemed ‘too far’, today, Jurong is now well-connected to the rest of Singapore via multiple expressways, MRT lines at Jurong East interchange and multiple bus routes. Announced as part of the Government’s masterplan to decentralise the business and population congestion in central Singapore, Jurong is earmarked as ‘Singapore’s 2nd CBD’ in the making.
As the residential population in Jurong grows, so has its leisure and entertainment options. Jurong is not short of large shopping malls (they certainly have the land space for it) that can rival the likes of Orchard’s best.
Malls such as JEM, IMM, Westgate, and JCube are all located in close vicinity to the Jurong East MRT station, providing abundant choices for retail, dining and entertainment needs

Where heritage and development co-exist side by side
Chinese Garden is a heritage park in Jurong East, it was constructed by the JTC Corporation in 1975. Designed by Professor Yuen-chen Yu, who hailed from Taiwan, the Chinese Garden is meant to signify a return to the art of gardening and a love for oriental landscaping.
It was designed to blend architectural features alongside a natural Chinese Garden themed environment, staying true to the northern imperial practice of Chinese landscaping and architecture.
Chinese Garden is located right beside Chinese Garden MRT Station and linked to its next-door cousin the Japanese Garden via a bridge. Both gardens combine to make up what is commonly known as the Jurong Gardens.
Further down in the Boon lay area there is the mega sized Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) it is an autonomous research university in Singapore. It was ranked the fastest-rising young university globally by Times Higher Education, and is known for its eco-friendly and smart technology garden campus.
