Overview:
District 15 - Katong, Marine Parade, Siglap, Tanjong Rhu
A good portion of this district used to be closer to the waterfront before significant land reclamation expanded space allowing for more residential and commercial buildings to be built. You can still find sea facing private properties here which makes the Marine Parade and East Coast road stretch a key favourite for those who want a finer lifestyle and are prepared to pay for it. Katong is a hot favourite amongst the wealthier category of property owners, as it has the connectivity but still possesses a laid-back quality residential vibe.
The Tanjong Rhu area is another popular premium address with many private properties both old and new, contributing to the generally more premium atmosphere. This neighbourhood is popular with families with children as well.
The surrounding Joo Chiat/Katong area is defined by a set of distinctly unique shop houses, with their colourful facades that populate quaint streets, adorning the neighbourhood with ornate design sensibilities and a sense of nostalgia.
