Overview:

District 17 - Changi, Loyang

Changi, whilst traditionally perceived as far is one of the most family friendly neighbourhoods with lots of spacious properties, due to the generally lower cost of land here. However, all this might change with the hyper pace of developments and increased lifestyle options residents will have with the iconic Jewel Integrated lifestyle hub at Changi airport.

There are many huge bungalows and condominiums in the Changi area, with several education institutions to choose from. It is also in close proximity to the airport for those who travel frequently.

Japanese contemporary art powerhouse Team Build, who were also behind the popular exhibition FUTURE WORLD, which showed at the MBS Art Science Museum in mid 2018 will design art pieces in Jewel. An iconic rain vortex will also act as Changi Jewel’s centrepiece.

Changi Jewel - A Lifestyle destination in the East

This integrated complex was created to provide a strategic futuristic pillar to spearhead Changi Airport’s relentless pursuit to be the leading international airport both regionally and globally. Unveiled as the pride of Singapore by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in his National Day Rally speech in 2013. This development will complement Changi Airport’s goal of eventually doubling their current capacity to create more opportunities for tourism, and business in Singapore.

Jewel is a hybrid space for lifestyle venues interspersed with an iconic urban indoor park. The element of the proven mall concept fused with the thrill of nature, cultural wonder via an art installation and recreational pursuits all under one indoor dome – providing pleasure to visitors come rain or shine. According to Moshe Safdie the lead visionary architect in this project – it is meant to symbolize “where the people of Singapore interact with the people of the world’.

Jewel Changi was constructed over what was once the open-air carpark in Terminal 1, with the completion of Jewel happening alongside the rapid expansion of Terminal 1 Changi thereby upping its capacity to receive 24 million passengers throughout the year. And yes, as announced it also has a Pokémon centre.
