Along the road, popular schools include Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Road), Hwa Chong Institution, Hwa Chong International School, Methodist Girls' School, National Junior College and Nanyang Girls' High School.
Every morning there is a significant build up in terms of traffic as parents or family drivers usher their younglings to these prestigious schools. Getting into such schools remain a hallmark or parental pride amongst established Singaporeans, and as such many choose to live close by just so their kids stand a better chance of entering.
Due to all this inherent demand the cost of staying in this area has risen steadily over the years, even with government cooling measures to tame the market.
This is because units here are significantly larger, some of them are even freehold in nature - hence they remain extremely attractive to established Singaporean families with the means to purchase such ‘generational assets’ for their families.
